Answer: Not sure
Explanation: This really depends on the situation. Home stagers want their clients to be happy, and if it means changing out lamps or a piece of wall art or an accessory, they're usually willing to do this. However, a stager is paid for their design expertise and their knowledge of what buyers are looking for and how best to draw attention to a home's positive features. They should explain to homeowners that living in a "staged" home may be inconvenient for a short amount of time, but there is always the goal in mind of selling the home quickly and for top dollar. Usually, a staging plan is done beforehand, so any changes or concerns should be discussed prior to the actual staging. If the realtor or homeowners are demanding full-scale changes after the fact, I believe most stagers would want to be reimbursed for their additional time and labor.

Answer: No
Explanation: This doesn't happen very often, but we've been known to change out a few things. Sometimes we sense we are working with difficult people, and build in a little extra for this scenario that we are certain will happen. Most people/Realtors love our "Boutique-style" (different for every home and situation and potential buyer), and some even say they would buy their home back if they could, or why didn't they think of doing what we did.

Debbie DeMarais
Answer: Not sure
Explanation: We have never had a homeowner or realtor express dissatisfaction with our work, although we have had some ask us why we may have done certain things and we always make sure they understand the reasons. Staging is not decorating so it is not done to meet the personal taste of the homeowner, investor, realtor or stager, it is done to appeal to the target market for that specific property. Staging, merchandising, demonstrates lifestyle and possibilities. It stirs the emotions of the viewers enough to motivate them into making an offer on the property.
