Albatross Builders recently completed a gut remodel of a home in Redding CT, The remodel was extensive including new kitchen, moving two stair cases, 5 new bathrooms and a new roof as well as new hardwood floors throughout the 2700 square foot home. The customer changed the plan many times and the roof was a change we found as a result of the roof sheathing being covered in mold. We used a vegetable based spray foam in the roof system to avoid additional insulation on the outside of the building, 2x8 rafters do not accommodate enough insulation for modern energy codes. We were able to help the customer through all the surprise changes that we found and that the customer requested. They were very pleased with the whole project and have since taken on repairing her four story deck that was sagging due do improper footings. we also are fixing her dry stone retaining wall with a new continuous reinforced footing and Gunite wall to prevent the dry stone from shifting any further. The family has become close friends and we look forward to many more projects with them in the future.
