"When I was informed that as the Heards Ferry media specialist that I would have a significant sum to update the school's media center, I was thrilled....and overwhelmed. Being responsible for a space measuring approximately 4000 square feet and having to create an atmosphere that would cater to children from 4 to 12 meant our choices couldn't be too babyish or too gender specific. We wanted to create a welcoming environment that would encourage our students to discover and enjoy reading and learning. We wanted an overall look and feel, but also wanted to create spaces where a student could nestle up with a book and get cozy."
