Questions & Answers

Q:
|
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?
|
A:
|
Ask About Warranty & Workmanship:
Reputable professionals stand by their work. I personally offer a 5-year written warranty because I believe in doing it right the first time — no shortcuts, no patch jobs.
Very important to make sure what you're having estimated is the actual work being done, never change your mind during a project since it may end up costing more than what you have budgeted.
Always Get a Written Estimate:
A clear, written estimate protects both you and the contractor. It sets expectations and ensures everyone is on the same page.

Q:
|
What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?
|
A:
|
The most common type of project I provide is custom deck construction and outdoor carpentry. Whether it’s designing a new deck from scratch, upgrading an old one, or adding features like built-in seating or railings, outdoor living spaces are where I do a lot of my work.
I also regularly handle all types of carpentry, framing, custom cabinetry, door & window installations, and structural repairs. No matter the project, I approach each one with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality — backed by over 40 years of hands-on experience and a 5-year warranty.

Q:
|
In what ways is your company environmentally friendly?
|
A:
|
My company takes a practical, responsible approach to environmentally friendly carpentry. I minimize waste by planning precise cuts and repurposing usable materials whenever possible. I also offer clients the option to use sustainably sourced lumber, low-VOC finishes, and durable materials that reduce long-term replacement and landfill waste.
When removing old decks or structures, I recycle or donate salvageable wood and hardware instead of sending everything to the dump. On-site, I keep a clean, organized work area to prevent unnecessary debris and protect surrounding landscaping.
While carpentry is a hands-on trade, I believe craftsmanship and conservation can go hand in hand — and I’m always happy to discuss greener options with clients during the planning phase.

Project Spotlight: Custom Multi-Level Deck Installation
We recently completed a custom-built, multi-level cedar deck for a homeowner who wanted to transform their backyard into a usable and elegant outdoor living space. The property had a significant slope and limited access, which posed logistical and design challenges right from the start.
Challenges:
Uneven terrain required precise planning and multi-level framing
Limited equipment access meant all materials had to be hand-carried
The client wanted a seamless look with hidden fasteners and integrated lighting
Our Solution:
We designed a three-tiered deck with separate zones for dining, lounging, and grilling — each connected by wide steps and custom railing. We used rot-resistant cedar, stainless steel hardware, and concealed fasteners for a clean, high-end finish. For safety and ambiance, we installed low-voltage LED lighting in the steps and rail posts.
To solve the access issue, we staged materials in phases and used compact tools to minimize disruption to the landscaping. Everything was pre-measured and pre-cut on site to maximize efficiency.
Cost & Timeline:
Total cost: Approximately $32,000, including design, materials, lighting, and labor
Completed in 3.5 weeks, on time and on budget
The result is a stunning, functional outdoor space that the client now uses daily — and it's backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty.
