Questions & Answers
Q: What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?
A: Mobile Occupational Therapy practice allows you to receive your outpatient rehab in the comfort of your own home. You will not have to coordinate with others to bring you to your appointment because I will come to you! Other benefits of a mobile Occupational Therapy practice include saving you time, one on one attention, and the ability to work with the same therapist because we are a small practice.

Q: What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?
A: Pre/post-surgical rehab, strengthening, balance training, home modification assessments to assist you in staying home longer, fall risk assessment to prevent falls and injury at home, community reintegration, incontinence training, help you maintain your independence with self-care by helping to modify the task or training you with adaptive equipment.

Q: What would you like your customers to know about your company?
A: Functional Home OT's mission is to assist senior citizens with remaining at home longer through empowering independence with their own self-care, improved balance, improved strength, improved mobility, improved safety awareness, and home modifications assessment with recommendations when necessary. When our loved ones are able to maintain fulfilled purposeful lives their quality of life with improve.

Q: What is your company best known for?
A: My company is known for it's work with people who have cognitive change and functional decline

Q: What separates your company from the competition?
A: I am a certified dementia practitioner who has 16 years of Occupational Therapy experience.

Q: What questions do customers most frequently ask you? What is your answer?
A: Why might mobile OT practice be right for me? There are many reasons you may prefer to have your Occupational Therapy services come to your home, including the following: *We can treat you/your loved one with multiple diagnoses in the comfort and familiar environment of your home. Diagnoses typically referred to use include (but is not limited to) stroke, Parkinson's, cardiac/pulmonary, pain, and dementia. *We will be able to assess and make recommendations that enhance the living environment of you and/or your loved one to support safe and successful participation in daily living activities that are important to them and you. *We work with family members to enhance interactions and improve the quality of life for everyone in the household when dealing with frustrating behaviors caused by dementia. *We use our knowledge of person, environment, and task to create “just right” activities that can support maximal independence and participation in current, and previous, occupations at your loved one’s current stage of dementia which can assist with the management of behaviors and add purpose to you and your loved one's lives. *We can work with you, or your loved one to stay at home avoiding hospitalization or skilled placement. We focus on safety, strength, endurance, and balance during our treatment sessions. *We minimize the stress of arranging transportation and getting to an outpatient clinic for weekly sessions. *Improved carryover of strategies learned during therapy sessions because they are completed in a familiar environment with their own familiar things at home. People with dementia need to practice the activities they are doing where they occur in order to learn it. A toilet transfer in a clinic is not ideal for a person with dementia because it is not the environment that they actually use the toilet.

Home is the ideal environment to complete your outpatient OT sessions. *Quality of life- When the needs of our loved ones are met then behaviors and negative interactions will improve and can lead to a better quality of life for the whole family. *Safety- We want our family members safe while at home. *Occupation- When past habits, roles, and routines are incorporated into our daily lives our loved ones feel fulfilled and have a purpose leading to improved quality of life. *Independence- People have an inherent desire to be able to live functional and independent lives. The more independent and active we are, the fewer risk factors we have for functional decline, injury, and/or illness.
