Get the full price up front. Many installers advertise a low base price and then add charges at the door for TV size, wall type, the bracket or hiding wires. Ask for an itemized total for your exact job before you book, and ask what could change it on site.
Ask what kind of wall you have and how they’ll handle it. Drywall should be mounted into studs, not just drywall anchors. Brick, stone and tile need the right drill bits and anchors, or they can crack or come loose. A good installer will explain their method without being asked twice.
Over a fireplace, ask about heat and height. There should be enough clearance above the mantel and a check of how hot the wall gets. It’s also worth asking whether the TV will end up too high to watch comfortably, and whether a tilting mount would help.
Be careful with wire hiding. Low-voltage cables like HDMI can go inside the wall. Power cords shouldn’t. If you want the power hidden too, ask whether they use an approved in-wall power kit.
Check insurance and warranty. Make sure they’re insured in case of damage to your wall or TV, and ask how long their workmanship warranty lasts and what it covers.
Know your bracket. Find out whether the price includes one, what type it is, and whether it’s rated for your TV’s size and weight. If you already have one, confirm they’ll install it.
Read the booking terms. Look at how much you pay up front, whether it comes off the total, and how much notice you need to give to cancel and get it back.
