Taking On A Tall Design Challenge

A 2 story wall of windows and doors can be a beautiful feature and a design dilemma all at the same time! Throw in the need for sun control and the fact that one of the glass segments is a functional door and the plot thickens.

My job was to warm up the room, not block the door and create a focal wall. In the "before" picture, the throw swag is dated and does nothing to pull the room together.

I designed a cornice board to just slightly cover the top windows for that upholstered look the room called for and added fabric covered crown molding to mimic the crown in the rest of the room. The side panel draperies are attached right on the glass doors and do not obstruct use of the door.

The feel of the room changed instantly when the treatment went up. It was a soft, elegant statement that really pulled that room together. I am up for the next challenge!
