How To Be Successful In The Auto Tire Center Business

There are more vehicles on the road now than at any other time in the nation’s history. Business is booming for auto tire centers and they have the potential to reap substantial profits, but only to the degree that they are capable of meeting the full range of their customers’ needs.

To be a successful tire center owner you need to have many things besides a strong will and the willingness to put in long hours to get your business off the ground, you need to have the right equipment and you need to have a good-sized inventory of tires and other parts to do the job right.

Many tire centers stock their tires directly from the manufacturer, wholesaler or distributor, but if you want to get the business, you have to keep tires in stock so the customer doesn’t have to wait for them. An impatient customer can, and will, leave and go somewhere else if the other guys have what they need in stock.

Let’s forget about the tires for a moment and focus on the tools and equipment you will need to run a successful tire shop. You are going to need a whole list of equipment including auto lifts, wheel balancers, tire changers, lathes, cabinetry and some basic and specialty hand tools. This equipment will work hard for you and will, of course, be expensive. Tire changers alone can cost as much as $5,000 and the lifts are around $6,000 each, you can plan on needing at least four of those.

To do a quality job, you will need quality tools. A good set of hand tools with related cabinetry will cost you another $15,000! Like I said, these things will add up in a hurry but you will need each and every piece of equipment and every single hand tool before you can even open your doors to customers.

As an independent tire center owner, you might be wondering how you are going to afford all of that necessary equipment. Should you mortgage your house or take out a loan? Those are good ideas, but they aren’t for everybody. Your best bet when it comes to getting the equipment you need is to lease it.

By leasing your equipment, you can get everything you need right away and pay for it monthly. This will keep you on top of your competition and enable to you provide a better service to your customers, thus increasing your bottom line.

Owning and operating your own tire center can be a very rewarding career, one that brings with it much responsibility and a lot of hard work. If you are up for the challenge, sit down and make a list of the equipment you need based on how big or how small your tire center will be and find out how a lease can get you the equipment you need today.
