About David

I've always been a photographer I suppose. I love faces. I took a few photography courses at Phoenix College to get me started, but am mostly self-taught. My first foray into real photography took place in 2003 when I placed an ad on Craigslist offering free pet photography. My specialty was originally portraits of pets and their families. More recently I've expanded my work to into (human) portraits and headshots. I am originally from Grosse Pointe, MI. I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Communication in 1983 and received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver in 1998. It took awhile for me to realize that my talents were in visual arts as opposed to academics. I have a residential studio in Central Phoenix, AZ. I do my own retouching and printing. I strive for technical and creative perfection. When I'm not doing portraits I dabble in fine-art photography. So, you may see me at First Friday or other venues around town. I
