What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?

Do your research! Do a simple Google search to research the company, make sure they actually exist. Check their social media profiles. Check reviews on Google, but also Facebook, Facebook reviews are extremely important as this is the largest and most prominent social network. If there are bad reviews see how the company responded if at all.
Have a good idea of what you want to accomplish through marketing or website design. This can mean acquiring more leads, branding, converting more visitors to sales or simply getting your business name out there. Also, know your competition. This is is something that we can find via marketing research, but it helps to know straight from you, whom you see as your main competition.
Beware of any company that does not perform a complete marketing assessment before offering services. One size does not fit all! You may be looking for SEO services for instance, but after research is complete, the results may point to another more effective option.
Have realistic expectations. For instance SEO services can take 6 months to 12 months to reap results and a positive ROI (return on investment). Web design will not automatically bring hordes of customers to your business, that is where marketing comes into play, however a well designed website converts more visitors to customers!
