Questions & Answers
Q: What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?
A: My advice to clients is to meet with the designer you're interested in working with. Pictures are great, but there is no substitute for direct communication if you want to work with someone who shares your vision for your home.

Q: What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?
A: Home Staging and Design projects both make up most of my work at this point. I have a very practical approach to staging and design, and understand that not every client wants or needs to start from scratch. When needed, I specialize in helping clients work with what they have, adding pieces that enhance or accent what already exists. This is especially true in Home Staging, where every attempt is made to use what the homeowner already owns. My home staging specialty is helping clients see what they already own in new and creative ways, in order to attract buyer interest.

Q: In what ways is your company environmentally friendly?
A: I specialize in helping clients work with what they have, only adding pieces that enhance or accent what already exists. This is especially true in Home Staging, where every attempt is made to use what the homeowner already owns. My specialty is helping clients use what they already own in new and creative ways, saving them money.

Q: What would you like your customers to know about your company?
A: It's my job to help my clients create the perfect space for them.

Q: What is your company best known for?
A: I have a very practical approach to staging and design, and understand that not every client wants or needs to start from scratch. I specialize in helping clients work with what they have, adding pieces that enhance or accent what already exists.

Q: What separates your company from the competition?
A: As a sign of my thanks, respect and gratitude, I offer a 10% discount for active and retired military.

Q: Does your company offer a warranty or guarantee?
A: I make every effort to make sure that my clients are satisfied with the work I have done for them. Before I leave I ask them if they have been happy with the service I provided for them, and remind them that they can always contact me for any reason.

Q: What questions do customers most frequently ask you? What is your answer?
A: Clients often want to know what my design process is. In a whole room design, as with any project, the most important thing is to find out how the client intends to use the room and what styles they prefer. I'll then source 2-3 options of an inspiration piece for my client to choose from. This inspiration piece is often the focal point of the room. It is often a large piece of artwork. Once the client has chosen that main piece, I then provide 2-3 options for each additional piece I source, all of which work with the items before it. So we build the room together, layer by layer, until we have artwork, furniture, flooring and rugs, accessories, lighting, window treatments, etc. The end result is a beautifully designed room in which the client has played an active part in creating and which they can be proud of.

Q: Does your company offer discounts to senior citizens or veterans?
A: As a sign of my thanks, respect and gratitude, I offer a 10% discount for active and retired military.

Q: Describe a project or service that your company recently completed (include challenges, costs, and innovative solutions).
A: I recently worked with clients who are having their first child. They called me in for a room design and to source furniture, rugs, window treatments and accessories. The couple had a pretty tight budget and wouldn't be able to afford quality furniture along with everything else they hoped for. Their childhood furniture was available to them-it was very well built and the lines were good, but the finish was dated. I suggested that they refinish the furniture with chalk paint. The whole project came in well under budget, and with the money they saved, they started a savings account for the baby.

Q: Is your company a member of any associations?
A: I am a member of several staging and design communities. I believe it's important to stay up to date on new ways to service my clients.

Q: Tell us a little about your company.

A: I accept checks as method of payment.

Home Staging

This was a very successful staging. The photo attached shows one of the bedrooms in this home. As you can see, it has a very distinctive red carpet, which dated this room. I started by interspersing some darker pillows among the lighter ones. Then we found some unused fabric in a hallway closet, which we folded and placed at the end of the bed to draw the eye up and away from the carpet. It made the bed the focal point, instead of the carpet. This was very quickly and easily done.

Testimonials
"We had the pleasure of working with Maria on a project inside our business recently...Her thoughts and ideas were well articulated. In a short period of time, several, very reasonable and economical changes were discussed and an action plan put into place...There was no pressure to do things we may not be ready to do or to hire other folks to accomplish tasks that we can do on our own. Looking forward to hiring Maria again..." Lisa Brown, Manager/ Group Sales, The Nordic Lodge, Charlestown
"Maria's sense of color made our job so much easier when we moved into our new house. On top of that she provided insights into rug selection and the use of accessories. She is both a knowledgeable and delightful person with whom to work." Max, Narragansett
“Overwhelmed by our house exterior paint selection process, we turned to Maria of New Day Design & Home Staging for assistance. My husband and I [had] been going round and round on paint colors for a YEAR! For 2 people who are so clear in other areas of their lives, we weren’t on this project until we met Maria. Her interviewing style made us feel right at ease and aware that we were in good hands. She has an unusual ability to ask questions that facilitated our limiting our options – based on our life style, house style, and our personal aesthetic. What a smart, talented and creative person, who takes pride in her work. Several people walking by our home have remarked that they like our color scheme or have asked for the paint name and number. It’s been a fun way for us to meet new people. In short, we recommend New Day Design / Maria without reservation.” – Xerba, South County
“Maria suggested the most beautiful color for my dining and living room. I told her what I wanted to achieve and she made it happen. Everyone that walks into these rooms say the same thing “I love the color of your walls.” I couldn’t have done it without her. She also helped me choose the color for my front door. It changed, for the better, the whole look of my house! Besides being very good at what she does, Maria is one of the most professional, personable and reliable ladies you will ever meet.” – Cynthia, Kingston
“Maria and I worked together to give the entry to our house a fresh look. It was a simple update changing the color of the front door and the sidelight, but what a difference this makes. Numerous people have commented on how the color is just right for the house and how it looks with the brick sidewalk. Maria looked at the “big picture”, considering the flow of color from inside our home to outside, including landscaping. She was very helpful and spot on!” – Deb, Wakefield
“Maria was wonderful! Friendly, talented and very accommodating. We were rushed to get ready for an open house and she came in and made such wonderful changes, that when I drove away it felt like we had [an] almost like-new home.” -Diane H, RI/MA
