Questions & Answers
Q: What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?
A: Find an architect that exhibits traits and values that you find important. Feeling like you can trust and count on your architect is crucial. Have some loose ideas of what you want to include in your project, perhaps even make a list to bring when you discuss the project with your architect. Finally, take an active role in the project. It is your project, so you should be absolutely satisfied with it when it is finished.

Q: What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?
A: Most commonly, our work has been in the residential side of the trade. Homes, additional housing units, townhouses, condominiums, remodels.

Q: In what ways is your company environmentally friendly?
A: Living in Santa Cruz the majority of our lives we are very community and environmentally oriented, we like to do things like save that tree that most other architects would have removed, or design new buildings to fit the site so less earth needs to be moved around. Of course we are supportive of any ideas and methods that can help keep our community beautiful, these are just a couple examples.

Q: What is your company best known for?
A: Ed Glatfelter-Jones has a plethora of successful and innovative projects that he has completed over his career, perhaps the best known would be his project that appeared in Sunset magazine's article "How old is this house?" in September of 1990. Andrew Decker is a fairly new face to the scene, having worked in other architects offices for the last few years after completing his schooling. He has a modest demeanor that masks his skills for incorporating functionality into artistic design, expect big things from him in the near future.

Q: What separates your company from the competition?
A: Our skills as designers, to put it plainly. It is the subtle nuances that make or break a project. Finding someone who understands aesthetics and treats architecture as the high art that it is, and not as a cash cow, is rare and invaluable.
