Firstly Tattooing is not just drawing on skin as many of you know, in fact drawing has very little to do with a properly SAFE applied tattoo, underground tattooing health risk is astronomical, these men and women are not trained in even the most rudimentary of disease transmission prevention, the public and these individuals are not aware of the dangers from AIR BORNE PATHOGENS, Or CROSS CONTAMINATION. This means that both the consumer and the individual applying the tattoo are at HIGH RISK to becoming infected with Hepatitis, HIV, or any number of life threatening infectious disease's.

These individuals are not just making a living by tattooing at home they are in fact risking their lives, their children and other family members lives, not to mention the consumer is not just saving the cost of a professional applied tattoo they are risking their own life trying to save a some money on a underground tattoo, underground is a fact 6 feet under.

Just ask them for the OSHA guidelines or there certifications in Disease Transmission Prevention, or what are the life saving procedures performed on a consumer who has a allergic reaction to ink, I did not think so, this is only a small amount of the information needed to meet the State Of Virginia law, VA requires 1500 hundred hours of training, and certifications to become a Tattoo artist.

Professional tattoos cost more as they should, these studios and artist have to sustain the cost that comes from providing a safe sanitary environment to receive a tattoo from a highly trained and certified professional tattoo artist. They are state and city regulated business who meet the Federal, State and City regulations and provide qualified licensed artist to apply tattoos.

Additionally today’s artist and tattoo studios need to become highly supportive of schools and training to help foster the industry growth towards a safer industry. I will also be providing certification and continued educational programs for all professionals, in addition to State and City Inspector training.
