As the seasons change, so should the look your face. The dramatic elements of winter, such as the stark, white snow and bold red color of the holidays translate into makeup trends as well.

Nude Makeup

A hot makeup trend for winter 2011 is a nude face. By creating a nude, matte and flawless complexion, you can use color on other parts of your face. Also, this look is reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. Start out with a skin-perfecting foundation. As cold air can make skin look dull and lifeless, especially if your skin is dry, choose a foundation with light-diffusing particles. As we want the look to be matte, without looking dull, finish with a loose powder or pressed powder. Revlon Photo-ready powder is an excellent option

Top off the nude makeup with a light dusting of nude blush. Add a nude lipstick. It is a shimmery lipstick that is not drying. The nude lipstick, along with the nude blush, that you should choose depends on your natural skin color and tones.

Sultry Eyes

Sultry eyes is the perfect makeup look for winter 2011. This is the season for experimenting with deep, metallic colors. Purple is one such eyeshadow color that is perfect for the holidays. If you have brown or hazel eyes, purple eye makeup is extremely flattering.

Create a base on the eyes by using a soft wash of color from the lash-line all the way up to the brow-bone. The exact color of shadow that you use depends on the color of your lids. It should blend right in and cover veins or imperfections.
Apply metallic, purple eyeshadow in just the crease and blend it in with the neutral color. Gel eyeliner is perfect for creating sultry eyes. To open up the eyes, apply brown or deep gray gel eyeliner to the top lash-line, and sweep up into a cat-eye shape.

Sweep your favorite mascara on your lashes.

Sheer Red Lips

Nude lips are trendy this winter 2011, as mentioned above. Another look to try is color-kissed lips. Avoid matte, red lipstick. Instead, a glossy red lip is fabulous this winter season. This also is a nod to retro beauty!
