No Need to be Embarrassed - Organize Today

I recently worked with a new client who confessed to me that we had met the previous year, but she was too embarrassed to call. I was very surprised, as I never realized or assumed that someone wouldn’t call me because of embarrassment! This particular client went on to say how much stress and anxiety the things in her life caused; to the point it almost completely destroyed her marriage. Wow! How sad to realize she struggled with so much, before picking up the phone and calling.
It is part of the profession, and all organizers realize this, that we are not going to see people in their ideal situation. But, that is exact reason why I chose this profession…to help others overcome the clutter and disorganization that prevents them from living a fuller richer life. Life happens and along with it, stress, anxiety, full schedules and family. However, the embarrassment of having clutter should never outweigh the health, social and marital problems they can bring.
Recently, one of my very first clients, took me to lunch. At our consultation appointment she was apprehensive and embarrassed. But, all I saw when I entered her home was possibility and how good she’d feel after we were done. However, if she had let embarrassment rule her life, she never would have made the call that changed it.
Professional Organizers should be professional, non-judgmental and above all else, have the client’s interest at heart. If you come across a Professional Organizer who ridicules or embarrasses you, show them the door and then call All About Organizing.
