Beautiful Dining Rooms Begin with Beautiful Window Treatments!

 Great top treatments are the crowing glory of any window treatment. Sheers, over draperies or side panels are usually pretty commonplace. Top treatments, however, are unique and make a definite statement that shows your special style and personality. What better way to set off your dining room, than with a custom designed window treatment!
Top treatments can actually save you energy, transform the height and width of your windows, coordinate with other fabrics in the room, but best of all, they cover up ugly, naked rods. The most attractive drapery can be spoiled by opening it and exposing plain white rods.
The simplest and most well known top treatment is probably a pleated or shirred valance. Made like its traversing drapery counterpart, it helps to finish off the treatment and carry the fabric and color across the window area. These valances can be dressed up with scallops, trims, braiding, or even a contrasting fabric to set it off from your main drapery fabric.
Shirred valances offer a softer style – definitely more casual – for those casual dining rooms. They can be shaped at the bottom, installed on multiple rods and will help to transform the shape and feel of the treatment. Pouf and balloon valances are also great looks, and can be made by adjusting the size and amounts of yardage used to fabricate the valance.
No matter what style you choose, a distinctive top treatment will surely be a beautiful focal point in your dining room design.
