Award winning WildLife T-Shirts Only at Love The Planet
Love the Planet was begun on the day I read about the Ugandan Army slaughtering elephants from helicopters with automatic rifles. They were aiming in a protected preserve, the Garamba National Park in the DRC (Congo), to get money for weapons.This was so obscene to me I actually couldn’t read the article, and had to research it further later to gain understanding, and then I had to react!
I created an art installation to honor the slain elephants, with the help of high school art students making life sized ceramic tusks. When one student asked, “How are we making a difference by making art?” I replied, “Step one in that equation is awareness. We are making people aware of the problem.” Beyond that, people must care about the issue, and then take action to solve the problem.
We need to love the elephant more than the ivory.
