Landscape Architectural Services

Wagester Design Group offers professional Landscape Architectural services ranging from preliminary land planning and site analysis to the final development of landscape plans, site plans and construction specifications. We also provide environmental analysis in the areas of Forest Stand Delineations and Forest Conservation Plans. Design projects often involve the development of community entrance features and various community themed site amenities.

Boonsboro Residence

Owners of this residence requested Wagester Design Group to develop a comprehensive master plan to enhance their residence and compliment their lifestyle. The design featured a low stone accent wall running along the front yard to improve the view to the home from the street below. The entre to the residence was also improved with the addition of a formal walkway, placement of two accent columns and new landscaping designed to enhance the architecture of the home. In the rear yard the master plan proposed additional improvements to further compliment the outdoor interest of the clients. Although all phases of the master plan have not been implemented the multi-level patio, stone walls and landscaping still provide for a stunning backyard garden for the clients to enjoy spending time in.

Baker Park Residence

After recently purchasing this downtown residence and renovating the home, the clients found themselves with even a smaller backyard to enjoy. Asked to develop a landscape plan that would transform their rear yard into a space where they could enjoy time with family and friends in an environment that was fenced and provided privacy. With space a premium in this backyard it was critical for the various design elements to be extremely functional as they related to one another. The result is a compact yet very comfortable outdoor living space that feels private and secure whether spending time with their family or entertaining with friends.

Catoctin Mountain Residence

These clients valued the natural setting surrounding their home but felt their backyard did nothing to enhance that. Our objective was to develop a master plan that would create an outdoor living space that beckoned them outside. The landscape design featured a naturalistic stream and waterfall meandering down a hillside ultimately terminating adjacent to a curvilinear flagstone patio. The water feature is prominently featured in the rear yard creating a compelling reason to relax on the patio under a custom pergola. In the evenings the clients can enjoy a cozy fire in their fire pit tucked into the edge of the patio.

Frederick City Residence

After recently purchasing this historic row home in downtown Frederick the clients had already renovated much of the interior. They next turned their attention to an underutilized rear yard that was long, narrow and simply functioned as a pass through space between their garage and residence. The objective of the landscape design was to create pockets of interest in the rear yard that would provide destination places to enjoy spending time their backyard. Because of the historic nature of the property and the existence of mature vegetation the intent of the design was to imply that the improvements had been there for awhile. To accomplish this we meshed various hardscape materials together and incorporated a stone ruin structure. Opposite is a sitting area surrounded by a stone seat wall which provides for a relaxing location to enjoy the soothing sound of the water feature.

Middletown Residence

This client had an expansive property with panoramic views of the Catoctin Valley but their outdoors was a blank slate and they needed a vision on how to begin making improvements. Our task was to transform their outdoors from just a space with dramatic views into an environment that reflected their lifestyle. The master plan needed to bring a sense of scale to the surroundings and make their outdoors a true extension of their home. With some of the improvements implemented the clients now can enjoy gardening in their potager garden anchored by a Williamsburg garden shed and host outdoor dining parties on an expansive patio. If a quieter time is desired they have a separate sitting area tucked away and for those outdoor evenings a stone fireplace to relax in front of. An artfully crafted landscape design enhances all the improvements and provides a personal scale where people feel comfortable spending time in the various outdoor rooms.
